The evening opens with a short meditation to settle the group and mark the shift from the day’s pace to the wood’s pace. From there the format loosens. This gathering sits with hope: what you’re holding on to, what you’ve stopped waiting for, what you’d like to believe is still ahead. Space opens for anyone who wants to speak, with no obligation to contribute. The facilitator reads a poem aloud, chosen for the room rather than performed at it. The evening closes with tea and cake, giving the group a shared, unhurried moment to sit together before dispersing.

Hope is easy to talk about in general terms and hard to talk about honestly. Most of us keep the specifics private, because saying what you’re still hoping for makes it real, and real things can disappoint you. Sitting in a small group changes that calculation. One woman naming something out loud gives the next woman permission to do the same.

This isn’t an evening about staying positive. Nobody arrives full. Some women come carrying hope for someone else rather than themselves, and some come with very little and want to sit near people who have some. All of that belongs here. The meditation quiets the noise each woman arrives with. The poem gives the group a shared reference point before anyone has to find their own words. Ending with tea and cake keeps the evening from a hard stop and lets the conversation continue at its own pace.

  • Warm layers, the wood yard sits outdoors and evenings cool quickly
  • A blanket or cushion for sitting during the meditation and sharing
  • A cup if you have a favourite, otherwise cups are provided
  • Sturdy, weather-appropriate footwear

Nothing else is required. Tea and cake are provided at the close.

Women looking for company in stillness rather than another structured wellness class. Ideal for those who want to be known by a small group over time, not just attend a single event. You don’t need to have attended a previous gathering.
